Abstract:
This paper focuses on the use of reflective practice as a research methodology by a playwright/scholar looking to create new dramatic text and produce further theoretical understanding about drama/theatre. The paper outlines some of the key concepts informing the selected methodology, offers a brief snapshot of the practice and highlights some of the difficulties experienced in the process. The paper concludes by suggesting a possible alternative use of reflection-in- action and on-action for projects that seek to create new artistic product at the same time as they seek to advance theoretical understanding in the field.
