Abstract:
In the context of a funding crisis experienced by government schools in Australia, this paper examines the key issues pertinent to funding music and the arts in Australian schools. Through an analysis of recent government policy documents and research data from two studies, corporate sponsorship is recommended as a viable option for today’s schools. The three parts of the papers are:‘The Arts Sector and the Corporate Sponsorship Option’, ‘Corporate Sponsors and the Arts’, and ‘Music in Schools and Corporate Sponsorship’.
