Abstract:

The article highlights the miscalculations and flaws of the approach used by Doctor Shoyo Tsubouchi, the first person in Japan who acknowledged and endorsed the educational value of drama by and for children, toward child drama. It explores the consequences of Tsubouchi's lack of direct interaction with children. It reviews the historical restrictions that made Tsubouchi's activity less effective. Also noted is the influence of Tsubouchi on the thousands of parents, teachers and children despite his miscalculations concerning his child drama.
