Abstract: 

The aim of this text is to provide an overview of current philosophies and practices in arts education in early childhood (birth through age eight). Content is geared toward the early childhood generalist teacher, but it is also applicable to arts specialists, other professionals, and parents. Learning features include chapter introductions and summaries, numerous tables and models synthesizing information, and activities that encourage observation, role playing, and discussion of examples of children art.
