SYNOPSIS: This 60-minute presentation would showcase the music of a celebrated Filipino musician, Noel Cabangon, and his reflective journeys as a singer-songwriter and an artist-teacher.

Noel is well-known for his music that deals with national identity, ardent love for country, and conservation of the environment. He was requested to perform during the Inauguration of the newly elected President Benigno Aquino Jr. last 30th of June 2010 and was part of the group who performed the inaugural song "Bagong Pilipinas" (New Philippines) to celebrate the change of administration. In this Lunchtime Concert, Noel would be singing a few of his songs and sharing his own pathways as an artist as well as some of his reflections as an artist-teacher.

Since the 1980s, Noel was involved in the creation of alternative Filipino music. He formed a folk group called Buklod in 1987 which has led to the production of three albums which tackle socio-political-cultural issues; the struggles and aspirations of the Filipino peasants; human rights; and environmental issues.

Noel also participated and performed in Paris, France during the Bi-Centennial Celebration of the French Revolution in 1989. He attended the World Social Forum in Mumbai, India, where he met with several artists from other countries that led to the production of a collaborative album called "Arts in Resistance".

Noel is also an active artist-teacher-member of the Philippine Educational Theater Association and has won several awards from the Philippine Association of the Recording Industry. He is the current Vice President of OPM (Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mangaawit – Organization of Filipino Musicians), known to be the most respected organization for musicians in the country.

He has just recently won the Best Album of the Year award as well as Best Performer of the Year from one of the most prestigious musical award-giving bodies in the Philippines.
